In the "Finish Friday" spirit, I've decided to post about a sock I completed just yesterday:
There is a bit of background to go with these.
About six-ish years ago, I started playing WoW. World of Warcraft. Frequently touted as impossible-to-give-up-addictive-video-game-crack. I'm not going to lie, I had it pretty bad. Once I started college, however, I had to slowly cut my WoW time little by litte, and when I started my full-time internship at Intel last summer it basically stopped altogether. I still play occasionally, but I just don't have "the bug" like I used to.
I will admit is a ridiculous time-sink and almost definitely a waste of money, but I don't regret playing at all. I met a lot of really great people, including the best friend I have in the world, as well as meeting my boyfriend of 2.5 years now.
Where do the socks come in, you ask?
They are a Christmas gift for the aforementioned best friend, Frosty. That's not his real name, just as Sava isn't actually my real name. WoW players have to pick a name for their character. Mine was Savallion, shortened to "Sav" or "Sava" by nearly everyone that I met, with the occasional "Savvy" when people thought they were being cute. It just kind of stuck. Frosty is a similar nickname.
After a while, silliness in our conversation created the nickname "Sava Lava", and in an attempt to reciprocate the silliness, I responded with "Frosty Losty". These socks are a symbol of the frivolity and silliness that we've always had in our friendship.
Now I've got that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you know someone is going to love their gift. I'm hoping to get the second sock in this pair done by tomorrow night and then get started on the lace scarf for my mother.
I lucked out, being out of town until January, so I have that little extra time to get my gifts done!
Are you meeting your quota for holiday knits/crochets?

Congratulations, and Happy Christmas !
